Exmoor and the Quantock Hills provide a unique landscape shaped by people and nature over thousands of years - one of the finest landscapes in the UK. The area is criss-crossed by a well-maintained network of footpath and bridleways. These provide an excellent variety of walks and rides across heather-clad moorland, deep wooded combes (valleys), farmland and coastal cliffs.
Habitats are particularly diverse and provide homes for a vast array of species, including majestic red deer, elusive otters and some of the UK’s rarest butterflies and bats. The area is so important for wildlife that almost a third of Exmoor National Park and the Quantock Hills are protected under UK and European law.
